Joint Communique
A Korean Goodwill Mission led by Mr. Dong Jo Kim, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea has made a formal visit to the Federation of Malaya from February 21 to 23, 1960.
The Special Envoy presented his credentials to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of the Federation of Malaya and exchanged, in a most cordial athmosphere, views and opinions on problems of mutual concern with His Excellency Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj, the Prime Minister, Dato Dr. Ismail bin Abdul Rahman, the Minister for External Affairs and other leaders of the Federation of Malaya.
Recalling the friendly relations which have happily been revailling between the Federation of Malaya and the Republic of Korea, the leaders of the two countries affirmed their resolute stand against communist aggresion and colonialism.
They also agreed that the two countries should cooperate closely in economic, cultural and other similar fields in order to ensure the welfare and prosperity of their two countries.
The Minister for External Affairs, Dato' Dr. Ismail bin Abdul Rahman and Special Envoy Mr. Dong Jo Kim disclosed in particular the question of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries and agreed to take necessary steps in order to make possible the exchange of diplomatic envoy at ambassadorial level at an earliest possible date.
