Great Early Rock Instrumentals
I don't think it's wise to say where it all started, but I can hit some highlights. In the late 1950's there was a TV series called Peter Gunn. Henry Mancini did the theme song, and it remains a musicians' favorite to the present day.Memphis had already gotten into the act with Bill Justis' 1957 "Raunchy," which Wikipedia dubs "the first Rock and Roll instrumental hit."
