GEOLOGISTS' EXAMINATION , 2009
The Union Public Service commission will hold the Geologists' Examination 2009 commencing from 5th December, 2009 for recruitment to Geologist (Junior), Group A and Assistant Geologist Grade-I, Group B in the Geological Survey of India and Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A in the Central Ground Water Board. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

- A candidate must hold (i) Master's Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognised University or (ii) Master's Degree in Mineral Exploration or (iii) Master's Degree in Hydrology or (iv) Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
(C) Physical Standards: candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for Indian Geologist's Examination, 2009 as prescribed in the detailed advertisement.
Application form: The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the commission for its examination, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Ooffices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/-

Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination , 2009
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold a written Examination on 11th October 2009 for recruitment of 593 posts (BSF-388, CRPF-114, CISF-89, ITBP-1, SSB-1) of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Police Forces (CPF) viz BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB.
Eligibility:- Age : Not less than 20 years and not more than 25 years as on 1st August, 2009. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree of any recognised university or an equivalent qualification.
- Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.
- Sex : Both male and female candidates are eligible for appointment to CRPF and CISF. However, only male candidates are eligible for appointment to BSF, ITBP and SSB.
- Possession of NCC B or C Certificate will be a desirable qualification. The desirable qualifications will be given consideration at the time of Interview/ Personality Test only.
Selection Procedure : Selection will be based on the basis of a written examination to be conducted by the UPSC followed by Physcial Standards/ Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test to be conducted by the Miistry of Home Affairs and the Personality Test/ Interview to be condusted by UPSC.
Application Form: The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/ Post offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- only.
Fee: Rs.100/- through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment (OBC candidates required to pay full fee).
How To Apply: All applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069" either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by courier on or before the 8th June, 2009. Last date of application is 15th June 2008 for the candidates of far flung areas.

Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2009 Including SSC (Women Non-Technical) Course
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2009 on 13th September, 2009 for admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy amd Air force Academy for the Cources commencing in July, 2009 and Officers Training academy, Chennai for the cources (Men and Women) commencing in October, 2010.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2009 on 13th September, 2009 for admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy amd Air force Academy for the Cources commencing in July, 2009 and Officers Training academy, Chennai for the cources (Men and Women) commencing in October, 2010.
Conditions of Elgibility
(A) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:
- For Indian Millitary Academy : Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1986 and not later than 1st July 1991 only are eligible.
- For Naval Academy : Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1988 (2nd July, 1986 in case of NCC Naval wing 'C' certificate holders) and not later than 1st July 1991 only are eligible.
- For Air Force Academy : Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1987 and not later than 1st July 1991 only are eligible.
- For Officers' Training Academy - (SSC Course for Men) : Male candidates (Unmarried or Married) born not earlier than 2nd July, 1985 and not later than 1st July 1991 only are eligible.
- For Officers Training Academy - SSC (Women Non- Technical) Course :
(a) Unmarried Women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divercees (in possession of diveorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been not earlier than 2nd July, 1985 and not later than 1st July, 1991.
(B) Educational Qualifications:
- For Indian Millitary Academy and Officers' Training Academy : Degree of a recognised university or equivalent.
- For Naval Academy : B.Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics ) or Bachelor of Engineering.
- For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognised university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
(C) Physical Standards: candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2009 as prescribed in the detailed advertisement.
Application form: The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the commission for its examination, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Ooffices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/-.
Fee : Rs. 100/- through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fees. OBC candidates are required to pay full fees.
